The Most Important Questions to Ask Your Wedding Photographer!

Did you ever think about booking your wedding photographer? You probably didn't until right now! You recently got engaged. You went to look at dresses. You even saved up a good amount of money to start getting the ball rolling. Only now, reality sets in! You must start PAYING people. What a drag, right?

It doesn't have to be!

As a professional wedding photographer, I have talked to SO many brides who are concerned about finances. Years ago I had a client ask for a payment plan. It dawned on me that this was actually a great concept to offer ALL of my clients.

That leads me to my first question for your potential wedding photographer...

"Do you offer payment plans?"

It's a great way to lower your costs so that it does not feel like your entire savings is sucked dry the second you book your photographer!

"How do you deal with stressful situations?"

This question is great to narrow down on the 'seasoned' photographers, versus the newbies. Of course, there is nothing wrong with new photographers, but if you are looking for someone who has a good amount of experience, as well as a calm personality, it will be perfect.

"Do you offer albums, prints, or products after the wedding?"

It's good to know if you can kill two birds with one stone and order from the photographer who already has the original photos.

"How long do you keep copies of my photos?"

I have had clients who completely lose their photos months or even years after their weddings. I feel heart broken for them, but am happy to reassure them with their photos. I keep my clients photos for up to 4 years! Make sure your photographer gives some type of 'backup' help with this!

"How many places do you back your photos up to?"

Three!! If your photographer does not back up to AT LEAST two places, run! Just kidding, but really, this is IMPORTANT!

Most importantly, ask your photographer what wedding photography means to them. You want to spend your money on someone who cares about what they are doing, not who simply see you as a paycheck. My photography is my passion and getting to photograph love is the best 'job' I could ever have.
